Barcelona 'weigh up swoop for Saul Niguez'

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez is a transfer target for Barcelona, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

The 25-year-old has made 268 appearances Atletico since debuting in 2012, including 18 in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign.

The Spain international has a contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2026, having put pen to paper on a nine-year deal ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Manchester United were linked with the midfielder during the summer, though, and according to reports in Spain, Barca are now weighing up a swoop ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Saul played at left-back during Sunday's clash with the Spanish champions at the Wanda Metropolitano, where Lionel Messi came up with a late winner for Ernesto Valverde's side.

The former Real Madrid youngster has operated across the midfield during his time with Atletico, while he has also previously turned out as a central defender.
