Report: Barcelona want Eduardo Macia as new sporting director

A report claims that Barcelona want Fiorentina's Eduardo Macia to become the Spanish club's new sporting director.

Fiorentina technical director Eduardo Macia is reportedly in the frame to replace Andoni Zubizarreta as sporting director at Barcelona.

Zubizarreta was relieved of his duties on Monday, while Carlos Puyol, who had acted as assistant to the former goalkeeper, also departed.

According to Sport, Macia, who has been with Fiorentina since 2011, has been identified as the individual to step into the position at the Camp Nou.

Macia, who initially joined Fiorentina as a scout before stepping into a more senior position, has also previously worked at Valencia, Liverpool and Olympiacos.
