Jeremy Mathieu ruled out for three weeks

French defender Jeremy Mathieu will miss up to three weeks of action due to a calf injury sustained in Barcelona's 1-0 defeat against Celta Vigo.

Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu has been ruled out of action for up to three weeks due to a calf injury.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Catalan giants from Valencia in the summer, picked up the knock during his side's shock 1-0 home loss against Celta Vigo last night.

It means that Mathieu will miss the trip to face Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday, as well as Barcelona's league meeting with Almeria next weekend, while he is a doubt for France's friendly double-header against Albania and Sweden.

Barca are currently third in the La Liga table following successive defeats.
