Neil Lennon blasts 'half-hearted' Celtic

Celtic boss Neil Lennon describes his side's performance against Barcelona as "very poor".

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has criticised his side's performance during their 6-1 drubbing away to Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Hoops boss admitted that the Spaniards were "fantastic", but described his own team's display as "half-hearted".

"Barcelona were fantastic as we expected them to be but we were very poor. There was no bravery on the ball and it looked like our heads went down at 2-0," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We were weak and that is something I have to address. There were only three players who really showed anything - Mikael Lustig, Virgil Van Dijk and Adam Matthews. I'd excuse the goalkeeper as well.

"There were a lot of half-hearted performances out there and that was the most disappointing aspect. I'm angry and disappointed but it's something we need to get over quickly. We are better than that."

Neymar bagged a 13-minute hat-trick on the night, while Gerard Pique, Pedro and Christian Tello also found the net for Barcelona.

Georgios Samaras hit a late consolation for Celtic, who were already eliminated for the competition ahead of kickoff.
