Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu will not be moving to Atletico Madrid before the end of the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly failed with their efforts to sign Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu in January.

After an early exit from the Champions League and subsequently missing out on the Europa League, Atletico have been making cutbacks since the turn of the year.

Matheus Cunha and Joao Felix have been allowed to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea, while Felipe is on the brink of signing for Nottingham Forest.

As it stands, only Memphis Depay has arrived at Wanda Metropolitano for a cut-price fee, and Matt Doherty is allegedly moving to Spain's capital from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal.

Nevertheless, there has been constant speculation regarding the future of Soyuncu, who is no longer regarded as a first-choice pick by Brendan Rodgers.

Throughout January, it has been widely claimed that Atletico are long-term admirers of the Turkey international, who has less than six months left on his contract, and wish to sign him in 2023.

However, despite lowering the wage bill and putting future income in place, it appears that the La Liga outfit will have to wait until the summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico have been unable to facilitie the January arrival of the 26-year-old.

Romano says that salary limits are preventing the conclusion of a deal, something which suits none of the relevant parties with Leicester having already identified a replacement.

Stoke City defender Harry Souttar is reportedly already at Leicester's training ground ahead of completing a £15m switch to the King Power Stadium.
