A report claims that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Catania midfielder Alejandro Gomez.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has reportedly told an Argentine radio station that the club are interested in signing Catania midfielder Alejandro Gomez.

The 25-year-old, who has been linked with a number of European clubs this summer, scored eight goals in 36 Serie A games for Catania last season.

The winger was strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan earlier in the summer, but Cerezo is believed to have told Radio La Red that talks between Atletico and Catania were underway.

Atletico lost Colombian striker Radamel Falcao to Monaco this summer.
