Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa underwent his first training session with Spain on Monday morning.
The 25-year-old's inclusion in the La Roja squad has been long debated due to his previous altercations with the likes of Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, who is one of the most experienced members of the team.
However, the powerful striker was named in Vicente del Bosque's squad last week for Wednesday's friendly against Italy - where he is expected to make his debut.
Costa has previously played twice in friendlies for the country of his birth Brazil, but switched allegiances last year after gaining citizenship with the European and world champions.
