Half-Time Report: Diego Costa penalty puts Atletico Madrid ahead.

Atletico Madrid lead Granada 1-0 at half time thanks to Diego Costa's 12th goal of the season.

A Diego Costa penalty has given Atletico Madrid a one-goal half-time lead over Granada this evening.

The hosts have played well but were undone by the Brazilian's 12th goal of the season towards the end of the first 45 minutes.

Atletico started brightly with Koke and Costa linking on two or three occasions, but it was the hosts who came closest to opening the scoring when Yacine Brahimi headed Fran Rico's corner against the crossbar.

The visitors struggled to create much in the final third, before Juanfran's break down the right and pinpoint cross found Costa in the middle of the box, but the striker's header was straight at the goalkeeper.

Granada continued to trouble their opponents but in the 37th minute, Diego Mainz bundled David Villa over in the box and up stepped Costa to stroke the ball into the bottom corner.
