Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood still wary of relegation threat

Tim Sherwood says that he while is looking forward to Aston Villa's FA Cup semi-final with Liverpool, he is still focused on the club's relegation battle.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has insisted that while he will enjoy this weekend's FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool, he is still focused on the club's Premier League relegation battle.

Villa are six points ahead of the drop zone after their surprise win at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Sherwood says that his sole focus will be on beating Liverpool this Sunday but regardless of the outcome, he has warned that Villa's season is far from finished.

When asked about his thoughts on the relegation battle, Sherwood told the Birmingham Mail: "Leicester are on a run now aren't they? I still believe no-one is out of it [unless they are mathematically safe].

"You just need to string a few results together and everything looks brighter. For us we've now got some momentum and that result at Spurs will be huge for us, but it's not done yet. We realise that.

"Yes, we've taken a massive step and we can look forward to Wembley now, but there's still a way to go."

Villa last reached the FA Cup final in 2000.
