Shay Given warns: 'Aston Villa can still be relegated'

Aston Villa must not use their win at Spurs as an excuse to get comfortable in their ongoing relegation battle, according to goalkeeper Shay Given.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has warned his teammates not to take their foot off the pedal as they hunt Premier League survival.

Tim Sherwood's side secured a vital 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in a weekend that saw several of their relegation rivals drop points.

The Villans now sit three places and six points above the danger zone, but Given warns that "anything can happen" between now and the final six games.

"We're not thinking we're safe yet. It's going to be very close and there's still a lot of work to be done," he told talkSPORT.

"You get some mad results at this time of year and anything can happen. We have to make sure we do our job, then it doesn't matter what happens elsewhere.

"It will probably go down to the last game of the season to see who stays up."

Villa now turn their attention toward an FA Cup semi-final with Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.
