Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has revealed that Tim Sherwood gave the team a "positive" half-time team talk in today's FA Cup win over Leicester City.
With the game scoreless at the break, new Villa boss Sherwood made his way down to the dressing room from his position watching in the stand and Villa went on to win 2-1 and advance to the quarter-finals.
"With the new manager coming on board everyone's got a point to prove," Given told BBC Sport afterwards.
"I've known Tim from our Blackburn days and he's a very positive character. He just came into the dressing room at half-time and spoke positively to us.
"Everyone's trying to impress the new manager and I'm no different. We've struggled to score goals so it's nice to get a couple and hopefully we can use this momentum in the league now."
Sherwood will hope to end Villa's five-game Premier League losing streak in his first official game in charge of the club, at home to Stoke City on Saturday.
