Monaco sign Borja Lopez

Monaco bring in their 11th new player of the summer, signing Spanish youth international Borja Lopez on a four-year contract.

Monaco have confirmed Spain Under-19 international Borja Lopez as their 11th summer signing.

Lopez put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the newly-promoted Ligue 1 side this afternoon, after they agreed a fee of £1.9m with Sporting Gijon earlier this week.

The 19-year-old was a regular for Gijon in the lower reaches of Spanish football last season, while also playing every game for Spain in the UEFA Under-19 Championship last month.

A brief statement on Sporting's website confirmed the deal, saying: "The club thank the footballer for his conduct on and off the pitch during his time at the club and wish him every success in the future."

Monaco are expected to let the starlet go out on loan this season, with Valenciennes reportedly in talks to sign the centre-back on a season-long deal.

Claudio Ranieiri's side have now signed a whole new starting XI during the close season, including star additions Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.
