Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly open to the idea of joining Barcelona, with the Gabon international keen on Xavi's project for the Spanish giants.

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly set his sights on a move to Barcelona, amid doubt about his future at the Emirates.

The 32-year-old was dropped from the Gunners' squad for their victory against Southampton on Saturday, and it was believed Mikel Arteta punished Aubameyang for arriving later than agreed from an authorised trip abroad.

Despite speculation surrounding his future in North London, the Arsenal captain has still provided some goals for the Gunners this season, seven in total across all competitions.

The Mirror reports that the Gabon international is keen to join Barcelona as he is interested in Xavi's project with the Spanish giants, who are expected to go through a lot of transition over the next few months.

Barca dropped out of the Champions League at the group stages this season for the first time in over 20 years, and Xavi is said to be showing an interest in signing Aubameyang to add attacking strength to his squad.

Since arriving at the Emirates in 2018, Aubameyang has scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for Arsenal, and his current contract runs until 2023.
