Ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell urges the Gunners to cash in on Bernd Leno, who appears to have lost his place as Mikel Arteta's number one to Aaron Ramsdale.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged the Gunners to cash in on goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The Germany international has lost his place as Arsenal's number one in the past couple of weeks to Aaron Ramsdale, who has kept clean sheets in back-to-back Premier League wins against Burnley and Norwich City.

With Leno now in the final two years of his Gunners contract, the North London club are running the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2023, and Campbell believes that Arsenal should garner a fee for the 29-year-old while they still can.

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell said: "Take what you can. If Leno is not going to sign a new deal, the one thing you don't do is diminish his price by not playing him at all this season. You have to be a little bit cuter.

"Let's be honest though, Ramsdale has been brought in to be number one. You do not spend that kind of money on a second choice goalkeeper."

Leno boasts 34 clean sheets from 120 games in all competitions for the Gunners but conceded nine goals in his opening three Premier League games of the 2021-22 season.
