Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a move to sign Burnley winger Dwight McNeil if they fail in their pursuit of Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe.
Villa have had two bids rejected for the Gunners midfielder and are set to table a third believed to be worth around £32m.
Dean Smith is prioritising the signing of a versatile forward this summer and according to Football Insider, he will target McNeil if a deal for Smith Rowe fails to materialise.
Villa have already splashed the cash this summer, after signing Norwich City's Emiliano Buendia for a club-record fee understood to be worth around £33m, rising to £38m including add-ons.
McNeil's current contract at Turf Moor expires in June 2024 and Sean Dyche's side are under no pressure to sell the 21-year-old winger.
After being released from Manchester United's academy in 2014 and then making his senior debut for Burnley in 2018, McNeil has cemented his place as a first-team regular under Dyche, making 106 appearances across all competitions.
