Arsenal have reportedly identified Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez as a potential summer transfer target.
The Gunners are currently enjoying one of their best Premier League campaigns for some time, sitting three points clear at the top of the standings ahead of Wednesday's showdown with nearest challengers Manchester City.
However, during the second half of the campaign, Mikel Arteta has been left short in the final third, partly due to the absence of Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson.
More notably, though, Gabriel Jesus has been absent since sustaining a knee injury at the World Cup with Brazil, ruling him out until at least March.
Eddie Nketiah has proven to be a solid deputy, chipping in with four top-flight goals over the turn of the year, but he has failed to contribute in his last two league outings.

The lack of goals versus Everton and Brentford have allowed City to cut a gap that recently sat at eight points, and Arsenal will naturally start to consider alternatives for the summer.
According to Football Insider, consideration is being given to an offer for Martinez.
The North Londoners are said to have held a long-term admiration for the Argentina international, despite the striker not always showcasing his best form at San Siro.
During this season, in particular, the 25-year-old has contributed 13 goals and five assists from his 28 appearances in Serie A and the Champions League.

Nevertheless, his efforts have largely come in streaks, while Martinez failed to net in his 240 minutes of action for his country at the World Cup.
Although Martinez still has a contract until 2026, the report suggests that Inter may be prepared to cash in on his signature should they receive an offer of in excess of £70m.
That will be perceived to be the market value for a player who has 120 goals and assists to his name from 212 outings in all competitions.
Arsenal are said to have made contact with Martinez's representatives ahead of potentially making a formal bid during the summer.
