Arsenal reportedly open talks over a move for Aaron Ramsdale, but Sheffield United are after a fee of £24m to part ways with the shot-stopper.

Arsenal have supposedly opened talks over a move for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

The 23-year-old was unable to save the Blades from relegation to the Championship last term - his second successive demotion following Bournemouth's doomed 2019-20 campaign.

However, the Englishman could supposedly be set for a return to the top flight with Arsenal, who are thought to be in the market for a new shot-stopper to provide competition or take over from Bernd Leno.

Now, The Athletic reports that technical director Edu has touched base with Sheffield United to discuss a possible transfer, but the Blades will not sanction a sale on the cheap.

The report adds that Ramsdale would garner a fee in the region of £24m - a price that Arsenal would be reluctant to pay if first-choice goalkeeper Leno remains at the club.

Ramsdale kept five clean sheets in 38 Premier League appearances last season and was called up to England's Euro 2020 squad to replace the injured Dean Henderson.
