Arsene Wenger: 'Olivier Giroud is becoming very important'

Arsene Wenger claims that Olivier Giroud is "becoming a very important player" for Arsenal following Saturday's win at Sunderland in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger has claimed that Olivier Giroud is "becoming a very important player" for Arsenal following their 3-1 win at Sunderland in the Premier League.

The French striker scored the opening goal at the Stadium of Light on Saturday as the Gunners made it five straight victories in all competitions.

"I'm extremely happy with Giroud today," manager Wenger told the club's official website. "Not only because he scored, but his overall link play is improving from game to game. I think he is becoming a very important player for us."

Saturday's triumph has seen Arsenal move to the top of the Premier League table.
