Arsene Wenger downbeat over Premier League title hopes

Arsene Wenger admits that he is not holding his breath over Arsenal's chances of catching Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal need a huge slice of luck if they are to overhaul Chelsea and win the Premier League this season.

The second-placed Gunners picked up a seventh straight league win on Saturday by thrashing Liverpool 4-1 to briefly move within four points of the Blues, who later beat Stoke City to restore the seven-point gap.

With Jose Mourinho's side also boasting a game in hand - a visit to bottom-of-the-table Leicester City - Wenger acknowledges that his side need a minor miracle to catch their London rivals.

"We look up but we look even more game by game," the Frenchman told a press conference at full time.

"We need 100 per cent results, and the only way to get that is to focus on the next one with everyone together. We need other teams to have a weakness.

"Today was a great day. It was a very important game."

The North Londoners have seven Premier League games remaining this season.
