Alex Song focused on beating Arsenal

Alex Song insists that he is fully focused on helping West Ham beat former club Arsenal.

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song has insisted that he is fully focused on beating former club Arsenal this weekend.

The Hammers make the trip to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday looking to end their two-game losing run in the Premier League.

Song played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2012, but the former Cameroon international is not willing to let sentiment get in the way of helping West Ham earn a positive result in North London.

"They are one part of my life and, because I went there when I was 17, I always say it is my family," he told the club's official website. "Today, though, I am focused on West Ham and I want to make the fans happy. I want to play this game and give my best to help the team to win and come back to winning.

"I know this is a special game for me, but that's football and I have to take all the emotion out and just try to play my game and play the best football I can to help the team to win."

Song is currently on a season-long loan at West Ham from Barcelona.
