Reading manager Brian McDermott says that his team will try to claim a victory over under-pressure Arsenal in order to reward the supporters.

Reading manager Brian McDermott has insisted that his team must head into tonight's fixture against Arsenal aiming to win for the supporters.

The former Championship outfit previously met the North London team in the League Cup, where they came out as the losing side in a thrilling 7-5 scoreline in October.

"I'll take 7-5 as long as we get the seven and they get the five!" McDermott told the club's official website. "But if it was a 1-0 win for us that wasn't very good to watch, I think myself, the staff, the players and probably all our fans would take that. We need to make sure we do what's right for our supporters."

The Royals currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.
