Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has been named as one of three players in contention for the Puskas award.
The accolade is given to a player deemed to have scored the best goal over a 12-month period, and Giroud appears on the shortlist after his effort against Crystal Palace in January.
The Frenchman had moved ahead of Alexis Sanchez's inswinging cross, but somehow managed to volley the ball into the net via the underside of the crossbar with an effort which is known as the 'scorpion kick'.
Giroud faces competition from Venezuelan ladies' player Deyna Castellanos, who netted from the halfway line against Cameroon in the FIFA Under-17s Women's World Cup.
The remaining nomination goes to South African player Oscarine Masuluke, who scored an overhead kick in the closing stages of Baroka's match with Orlando Pirates.
The winner of the award will be revealed on October 23.
