Everton have reportedly ruled out making a fresh approach for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in January and will instead look elsewhere for a new striker.
The Toffees made signing Giroud their top priority during the summer transfer window after losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in a £75m deal.
Under-fire boss Ronald Koeman revealed last week that he was close to landing the Frenchman, who has himself admitted in the past that he contemplated departing the Emirates Stadium.
Everton were widely expected to renew their interest in the New Year, but the Daily Star suggests that other targets have now emerged.
West Ham United striker Andy Carroll and Kevin Gameiro of Atletico Madrid have both been touted as possible targets in recent days.
