Arsenal boss Unai Emery 'to drop Mesut Ozil for Manchester United clash'

Mesut Ozil will not be in the Arsenal XI for Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United, according to a report.

Mesut Ozil will reportedly not be in the Arsenal XI for Sunday's huge Premier League clash with Manchester United.

United will head to the Emirates Stadium fresh from their incredible 3-1 win away to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, but Arsenal suffered a 3-1 loss at Rennes in the Europa League one day later.

Ozil played 70 minutes of the European clash in France, but he has only started 14 Premier League matches for the Gunners this season, with head coach Unai Emery omitting the German on a number of occasions.

According to The Times, the 30-year-old will not be in Arsenal's starting side against United, with Emery believing that the playmaker is not capable of carrying out his gameplan against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

Ozil has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium, despite the fact that he only signed a new £350,000-a-week contract with the London club last year.

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table, one point off fourth-placed United, who have been in stunning form since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as head coach in December.
