Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims that picking up the three points was all that mattered after seeing his side claim a 2-0 win at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsene Wenger has declared himself "pleased" with Arsenal's 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion to keep his side in the chasing pack for the Premier League title.

The Gunners carved out a convincing victory at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday lunchtime thanks to goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi either side of half time.

Wenger made nine changes to his starting lineup on the back of Thursday's triumph away to BATE Borisov in the Europa League, which he admits was always going to be a risk against the Seagulls due to a lack of cohesion.

"We kept the clean sheet and of course got three points," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "We have played more fluent than today but playing Monday, Thursday and today, it was important to get three points. We eased off in concentration and decision-making and then it becomes a bit harder.

"The question mark is there when you change so many players, can you keep cohesion? It was a difficult week because the game at BATE was a difficult game. I am pleased."

Wenger, celebrating 21 years in charge of Arsenal this week, has seen his side win each of their last 11 games on home soil in all competitions.
