Sky Sports, Premier League 'plan second Christmas Eve fixture'

Sky Sports and Premier League chiefs reportedly face further backlash as they intend to air a second match on Christmas Eve.

Sky Sports and the Premier League reportedly intend to switch a second festive fixture to Christmas Eve, despite protests from clubs and supporters.

It emerged earlier this week that the broadcaster, with the support from league chiefs, hoped to televise Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on December 24 - 24 hours later than originally planned.

Fan groups hit out at the proposed decision, while Reds boss Jurgen Klopp also made it clear that he is totally against the idea, but teams are understood to be powerless to block the move as they have essentially given the Premier League permission to sell central broadcasting rights on their behalf.

According to The Mirror, further backlash could be forthcoming as another match is expected to be moved to the Xmas Eve slot as part of Sky Sports' Super Sunday programme.

Should the proposal be given the green light, the games are likely to kick off at 12.30pm and 3pm.
