Arsenal ended the Premier League season in style this afternoon, beating West Bromwich Albion 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium on the final day.
The Gunners scored all of their goals in the first half, with Theo Walcott grabbing a hat-trick and Jack Wilshere blasting another home to hand his side a 4-0 lead at the interval.
West Brom responded with a consolation goal through Gareth McAuley after the break, but it was too little too late for the visitors.

Good afternoon! Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for the final day of the 2014-15 Premier League season! Arsenal host West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates this afternoon with not much riding on the game for either side, which will hopefully mean that we're in for some entertaining football! The season has been a success for both teams, and they will want to go out on a high this afternoon. Let's start with a look at the hosts...
While the Premier League season comes to an end today, Arsenal still have matters elsewhere to attend to before their campaign is over. They could be forgiven for having one eye on the FA Cup final against Aston Villa next weekend as they look to retain their title at Wembley. Should they manage that, they would become the first 12-time FA Cup champions, and their season would go down as another good one under Wenger.
The success of their season doesn't entirely hinge on the FA Cup final, but victory next weekend would turn it from a decent campaign into a good one. In terms of the Premier League, they seem to have third place sewn up barring an unlikely couple of results on the final day. Manchester United are currently three points behind the Gunners, and there would need to be a seven-goal swing for the Red Devils to secure the final automatic place into the Champions League group stages.
That makes it 19 consecutive seasons that the Gunners have qualified for the Champions League, but they were again some way short of mounting a title challenge. It is now 11 years since they won the Premier League and 10 since they last finished in the top two of the table. In fairness, Chelsea were comfortably ahead of everyone throughout the entire campaign, but Arsenal fans will be desperate to see a challenge next term.
Whether or not that happens will largely depend on the summer transfer window, with Arsenal needing to strengthen in a few areas to make that leap towards Chelsea. They have a wealth of creative talent in midfield but, even accounting for the emergence of Coquelin since the turn of the year, still lack a top-quality defensive midfielder. They could also perhaps do with another striker and defender, although Wenger has already suggested that he isn't in the market for the latter having brought in Gabriel in January.
There have been questions over whether Giroud is good enough to lead the line in a title challenge, and the Frenchman drew another blank last time out against Sunderland. It was Arsenal's game in hand on Wednesday, but they were held to a goalless draw by the Black Cats, who secure their Premier League status as a result. A point was good enough for the Gunners too, but they would have wanted to win the game and had the pressure to do so. They just could not find a way through Dick Advocaat's side.

That made it three games in a row without a win or even a goal at the Emirates for Arsenal - the first time that has happened for six years. They haven't gone four home league matches in a row without scoring since 1987, and have not gone four without a win at home in all competitions since 2008. That dip in form is made all the more curious by the fact that it was preceded by a nine-match winning streak, and Wenger will be keen to finish the campaign with a return to winning ways in front of the Arsenal faithful.
In all, the Gunners have only won one of their last six matches inside 90 minutes and one of their last five in the Premier League. Three of those games have been draws, however, and the recent shock defeat at the hands of Swansea is their only loss in their last 14 matches in all competitions. They have failed to win any of their last three, though, and have not gone four without a win yet this season.
West Brom will be looking to make that happen today, though, and not too many people would be betting against the Baggies considering their recent form. Tony Pulis has once again come in and worked wonders with a club battling relegation, just as he did with Crystal Palace last season. As a result, this is a stress-free final day for West Brom, which they may not have been expecting after the first half of the season under Alan Irvine.
They start today 10 points clear of the relegation zone which, considering they were just a point above it when Pulis took over, is a remarkable turnaround from the Welshman. They currently sit 13th in the table and can't finish any lower than that, but should results go their way this afternoon then they could climb up a spot to 12th. Goal difference will prevent them from going any higher than that, but the signs are good for a top-half push next term.
Their season looked in danger of petering out at one stage, with three consecutive defeats threatening to keep them tenuously involved in the relegation battle for a while longer, but they come into this match in fine form. They are unbeaten in five games, which is their longest run since 2013, and should they avoid defeat today then it would be six on the bounce for the first time since 2011. Indeed, under Pulis altogether the Baggies have lost just four of their 17 matches.
Defensive organisation is usually the key to Pulis's success, and that has been the case against at West Brom. His side have kept 10 clean sheets in the 17 matches since he took over, including four in the ongoing five-game unbeaten streak. They boast the best defence in the bottom nine and only three teams outside the top five have conceded fewer goals than West Brom this season, but they are also the fifth-lowest scorers in the league.
The latest of those clean sheets came on Monday with a remarkable result at The Hawthorns. Champions Chelsea were the visitors, but West Brom ran out 3-0 victors over Jose Mourinho's side, who were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Fabregas was sent off for kicking the ball at Brunt. Brunt got his name on the scoresheet later in the match after two goals from Berahino, one of which came from the spot, sent West Brom on their way to a famous result.

They are back on the road this afternoon, though, and their away form has not been great over the whole campaign. They have won just four times on their travels all season, although that figure is improving with two of those victories coming in their last three away games. They have made themselves very hard to beat away from home too, with just two losses coming in their last nine.
A visit to the Emirates will not hold any fear for the Baggies, with one of those away victories coming at Old Trafford. Indeed, West Brom have picked up some very good results against the bigger boys in recent weeks, beating Manchester United and Chelsea and earning a draw against Liverpool in their last four games. It has been a tricky run-in for the Baggies, but they have traversed it expertly.
TEAM NEWS: The teams are in for both sides, and the headline news it that Walcott starts for the Gunners, with Giroud only making the bench. Ramsey and Koscielny also drop to the bench as Gabriel and Coquelin come into the side for the final day. As for West Brom, they unsurprisingly name an unchanged side as Berahino continues to lead the line. Full teams for both sides on the way...
ARSENAL STARTING XI: Ospina; Bellerin, Gabriel, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Coquelin, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ozil, Alexis; Walcott
ARSENAL SUBS: Szczesny, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud
WEST BROM STARTING XI: Myhill; Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Lescott; Fletcher, Yacob, Morrison, McManaman, Brunt; Berahino
WEST BROM SUBS: Palmer, Baird, Gamboa, Gardner, Anichebe, Ideye, Roberts
What can we make of those two teams, then? Well, it is interesting that Wenger has dropped out-of-form Giroud to the bench as Walcott gets a rare start in what is expected to be a central striking role. It is a position the England international is fond of, and he certainly has the pace to cause defenders plenty of problems, but his finishing can be found wanting at times. He will be desperate to make his mark this afternoon with the FA Cup final just around the corner.
Last season's FA Cup hero Ramsey is another who is rested before the trip to Wembley next week, with Coquelin being restored to the side. The Frenchman has been an integral part of the Arsenal side since returning on loan from Charlton earlier this season, replacing Flamini as the first-choice defensive midfielder in the side. He anchors the midfield so the likes of Cazorla, Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez - finishing a fine debut season today - can weave their magic in the final third.
There is just one change at the back as Koscielny drops out to be replaced by Gabriel, once again with the FA Cup final in mind next weekend. Gabriel has shown plenty of promise since his January move and may well push for a more regular starting berth next season, but whatever happens today it is likely that the Brazilian will be third choice centre-back at Wembley. Gibbs also seems to have ousted Monreal at left-back, and it will be interesting to see who starts there against Villa.
As for the Baggies, they have Berahino leading the line for perhaps the last time considering the amount of speculation that has linked him with a move away from the club this summer. He has 14 league goals for the season following his brace against Chelsea last time out and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. Another good display today could well add a couple of million to his price tag too.

Behind him, Brunt also got on the scoresheet in the win over the champions and is always a dangerous from set pieces, whether he is going for goal himself or swinging a cross into the box. Fletcher, who has played more consecutive games for West Brom than he ever did for Manchester United now, continues in midfield alongside Yacob, who will have a vital role this afternoon trying to keep tabs on the likes of Ozil and Sanchez when he drifts inside.
It is in defence that West Brom have been most impressive under Pulis, though, and there are no changes to the back five this afternoon. Myhill continues between the sticks due to Foster's injury, which is expected to keep him sidelined until October, and the stand-in stopper has done a fine job since been called upon. He may need to be on form again today if he is to ensure Arsenal make it four home games in a row without scoring.
PREDICTION: We're 10 minutes from kickoff at the Emirates, which means that it is time for a prediction! Matches on the final day can often be slow-tempo affairs, particularly with nothing riding on the result, but it isn't Arsenal's style to play that way. They have been struggling for goals recently while West Brom are very tight at the back, so it may be a close one, but Arsenal should be able to play with a bit of freedom even if they have one eye on the FA Cup final. I'm going for a 2-1 home victory.
Arsenal also won by a solitary goal in the reverse fixture at The Hawthorn all the way back in November, with Welbeck getting the only goal of the game to send the Gunners back into the top four. Welbeck is still injured for this match and is a doubt for the FA Cup final, so the goalscoring burden will lie elsewhere today. It was also 1-0 to Arsenal the last time West Brom were here, with Giroud getting the goal on that occasion.
Arsenal are unbeaten in eight Premier League games against West Brom, including six victories in their last seven meetings. West Brom have never kept a clean sheet against the Gunners either, with Arsenal scoring 35 times in their 17 Premier League meetings down the years - good news considering their recent troubles in front of goal.
In total, West Brom have visited Arsenal eight times in the Premier League era, and only once have they emerged victorious. That came in 2010 courtesy of a 3-2 victory at the Emirates, which is more than Pulis has ever managed on this ground. Despite having a decent record against Arsenal with Stoke at the Britannia, the Welshman has lost all six of this games as a manager against Wenger at the Emirates.
We have a full schedule of Premier League fixtures on the final day, and you can follow each one live with Sports Mole. I will keep you updated with any major events from around the country as and when they happen, with most of the focus coming at the bottom where Hull and Newcastle United are the two remaining candidates for relegation.
KICKOFF: Arsenal get us underway at the Emirates for the final time this season as they look to end their league campaign on a high and give themselves a boost going into the FA Cup final next weekend.
Early hint of a chance for West Brom as the ball is played up to Berahino, who chests the ball into the path of Brunt. He gets a shot away which Ospina saves, but the flag was correctly raised so it wouldn't have counted anyway.
GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 West Brom (Theo Walcott)
What a way to reward a rare start up front! Walcott gives Arsenal the lead with a magnificent strike, picking the ball up on the right side of the area before thrashing it right into the top corner. Unstoppable strike from the England international, who won't have hit many better than that before. Superb goal.
Arsenal have made an encouraging start here. They are knocking the ball about confidently inside the West Brom half and being allowed to keep possession in some dangerous positions. West Brom have been slow to get started here.
The Gunners win a free kick within shooting range and, despite the angle being against Sanchez, he goes for goal anyway. He can't get it to dip back under, however, and his effort sails over the crossbar.
West Brom just aren't really at the races in the opening stages of this one. They aren't closing down Arsenal as quickly as they usually do, and so far it is clear that this is the final game of the season for them.
SAVE! Lovely football from Arsenal as they work the ball nicely around the West Brom box. Ozil eventually slips a pass to Sanchez, who shifts to his right before getting a shot away, but it is a fairly routine one for Myhill down low to his right.
This is more like it from West Brom as they keep the ball for a sustained period of time - the first time that has happened in this one so far. Arsenal quickly win it back and get straight on the front foot, though. The hosts seem in the mood for entertaining today.
GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 West Brom (Theo Walcott)
He is certainly staking a claim for an FA Cup final spot, and Giroud will be worried right now. There is a little bit of luck involved as McAuley fails to clear the ball when tackling Ozil, but it is a smart finish from Walcott. He still has a lot to do as he skips away from one challenge before poking the ball into the bottom corner.
What a start this has been for Arsenal and Walcott in particular. He has had a torrid time with injuries this season and has rarely had a chance to start a match, but within a quarter of an hour he is now on a hat-trick here.
GOAL! Arsenal 3-0 West Brom (Jack Wilshere)
Speaking of injury-plagued players! Arsenal get a third, and this one is even better than the first goal! Sanchez sees an effort blocked and the ball is eventually teed up to Wilshere, who rockets a rising first-time volley into the top corner. That really is a stunning strike from Wilshere.
This is beginning to get embarrassing for West Brom. Arsenal are running riot right now and, if West Brom don't take their flip flops off soon then this could be anything. The hosts are enjoying themselves and West Brom just haven't got going.
I'm not quite sure what is up with West Brom at the moment. Pulis is fuming on the touchline, and rightly so. Granted, there isn't anything riding on this game, but that was the case against Chelsea too and the Baggies won that game 3-0.
CHANCE! Walcott almost has a hat-trick inside 25 minutes! The ball is worked to him on the left channel and he opens his body well before trying to curl one into the far corner. Myhill is at full stretch to tip the ball away with a fine save, however, and Walcott is made to wait.
CHANCE! Wilshere looks to double his personal tally, exchanging passes on the edge of the box to escape the attention of Yacob. He fires a low shot away, but it is straight at Myhill, who makes the save.
This has been such a comfortable 27 minutes for Arsenal. They are playing some nice football and are very much in the mood, but West Brom are making it far too easy for them. The Gunners have been completely and utterly dominant so far.
There is so much movement on the ball for Arsenal at the moment. Every player is giving and going, which is making it very hard for West Brom to track the runs in and around the box.
CHANCE! Big chance for a fourth Arsenal goal as they work a free kick from the training ground. Mertesacker makes a burst towards the front post to get on the end of a low cross into the box, but his effort lacks the power to truly trouble Myhill, who makes the save.
CLOSE! Again Arsenal come close as Sanchez turns away from his man before slipping the ball into the path of Cazorla. The little Spaniard hits it from 20 yards, but his strike takes a slight deflection on its way narrowly wide.
UPDATE: There are some surprising scorelines on the final day at the moment. Sunderland lead champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while Liverpool are 3-0 down away to Stoke in Gerrard's final game. Lampard, inextricably linked with Gerrard throughout his career, is having a better time of things on his Premier League farewell, scoring for Man City to give them the lead against Southampton. Elsewhere, Burnley are beating Villa and Leicester are one up against QPR.
SAVE! More threatening play from Arsenal. This time Olsson is forced into a good block to deny Sanchez, and moments later Walcott steals in in front of the West Brom defender before poking a tame effort straight at Myhill.
GOAL! Arsenal 4-0 West Brom (Theo Walcott, hat-trick)
Magnificent from Arsenal. Wilshere is again the spark as he plays a one-two with Sanchez before giving the ball out to Cazorla. The Spaniard drags his shot across the face of goal, but Walcott is there to tap home at the back post for his hat-trick. He and Wilshere have been excellent in this first half.
I would not want to be one of those West Brom players in the changing room at half time! Pulis is sure to have some choice words for his side, who have given Arsenal far too much time and space today. The Gunners have been allowed to play their game, and they are taking full advantage.
Good defensive work from Brunt as he tracks Gibbs all the way, getting a foot in just as the left-back looked to be through on goal.
SAVE! Almost a fourth for Walcott, who could really fill his boots today! Again he is given a yard of space to shift the ball to his right and place a low effort towards the bottom corner that Myhill does really well to get down and save.
SAVE! Ospina makes his first save of the day, but in the end it is a simple one for the keeper. Morrison lines up a free kick from range and hammers his effort goalwards, but it takes a big deflection on the way through that takes all the power off it and goes into the arms of the keeper.
There will be two minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
HALF TIME: Arsenal 4-0 West Bromwich Albion
Wow, that first half flew by - although I'm sure that wasn't the case for West Brom. Arsenal are in complete control at the break, leading 4-0 at half time following a dominant display in the opening 45 minutes. There has only been one team in it so far, and if things don't change in the second half this could be approaching double figures.
The opening goal came after just four minutes, and it was a stunning strike from Walcott. The winger, playing as a central striker, lashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner from a tight angle having found a yard of space inside the area.
Walcott doubled his personal tally for the match 10 minutes later, collecting a loose ball inside the area before skipping away from one defender and poking the ball into the bottom corner. The best of the lot came shortly after, however, as Wilshere lashed a magnificent first-time volley into the top corner to make it 3-0.
Walcott then completed his hat-trick inside 40 minutes, tapping the ball home at the back post after Cazorla had dragged an effort of his own across the face of goal. Arsenal played some lovely football in the build-up to the goal, as they have done all game, but West Brom have made it far too easy for the Gunners.
Despite conceding four goals, Myhill has made a few good saves as well, denying Walcott, Wilshere and Mertesacker to prevent that opening 45 minutes from getting even more embarrassing. Those in front of him have simply not been at the races today, giving Arsenal far too much respect and the sort of space the Gunners thrive in.
It is very much an end-of-season display from the Baggies, and they simply must improve in the coming 45 minutes if they are to avoid a true hammering here. It is damage limitation time now, but Arsenal seem in the mood for more.
KICKOFF: West Brom get us back underway as they look to salvage at least some pride following that dismal first-half showing.
YELLOW CARD! Bellerin is the first name in the book for a late sliding challenge on Morrison that hands West Brom a rare chance to get the ball in the box.
Brint fizzes the ball in low towards the near post, where Olsson has attacked, but he can't turn a difficult chance on target.
Almost a way through for Walcott again, but this time the slide-rule pass is too heavy for the attacker following a clever dummy from Ozil. More lovely football from the Gunners in the build-up to that.
WEST BROM SUB: Well, Pulis isn't opting for damage limitation here as he replaces Olsson with Victor Anichebe. You can't fault his ambition!
CHANCE! Big chance for Walcott to get his fourth of the match! It comes from a rebound after Myhill had made a fine save to deny a curling effort from Cazorla, but Walcott could not keep his rebound down on the stretch.
WEST BROM SUB: Another change from the visitors as Pulis turns to Craig Gardner in place of McManaman.
Concern for Gibbs here as he collides with Anichebe before falling to the floor clutching his shoulder. He will be hoping that that is just an impact injury with the FA Cup final just around the corner, and sure enough he looks like he may be fine to continue.
SAVE! West Brom have their best sight of goal so far as Anichebe spins into a yard of space before firing a low effort towards the bottom far corner that Ospina does well to get the slightest finger to.
GOAL! Arsenal 4-1 West Brom (Gareth McAuley)
He hasn't had much to do, but this is really poor from Ospina. He comes out to claim a corner delivered by Brunt, but McAuley rises higher than the Arsenal keeper to plant his header into the unguarded net. The celebrations are muted from West Brom, but they at least have a goal back.
There needed to be an improvement in the second half from West Brom, and there has been. Arsenal are not being allowed to play their game as freely now and the Baggies are seeing more of the ball.
WEST BROM SUB: A third and final change from the visitors with half an hour still to play as Yacob is replaced by Chris Baird.
Almost another chance for Walcott in behind as he looks to get on the end of a raking diagonal ball forward. Walcott just gets caught under the ball, though, and can't take it in his stride as the chance goes begging.
Shooting opportunity for West Brom and Morrison, who finds himself a bit of space outside the box. His shot lacks power and accuracy, however, trickling wide of the target.
Arsenal have taken their foot off the pedal in this second half, which is a shame. West Brom have improved, but there were plenty more goals for the Gunners if they really went for it in the second half.
Anichebe is the latest West Brom man to have a slight sight of goal as the ball is fed into his feed inside the area. The striker holds his man off before getting a shot away from a tight angle, but he slices it wide of the near post.
ARSENAL SUBS: Arsenal make their first two changes of the day, with Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud being brought on in place of Coquelin and hat-trick hero Walcott.
SAVE! Sanchez hasn't been quite as involved as you might think considering the scoreline, but he looks to get in on the act here with a direct run at his full-back. He manages to get a shot away too, but he drags it and it is a simple one for Myhill to deal with.
Arsenal very much got the job done in the first half here, and they are in cruise control now. They have not needed to get out of second gear since the break, but there are still some goals in this one if they push for it in the final 15 minutes or so.
UPDATE: Elsewhere, Steven Gerrard has joined Lampard in scoring on his final Premier League appearance, but it is far from a fairytale ending from the Liverpool skipper. Liverpool trail Stoke 5-1 now.
SAVE! Brunt advances down the left flank but opts against crossing the ball, instead going for goal from an impossible angle. He catches his effort well and Ospina beats it out into a dangerous area, but Gardner blazes his volley well over.
ARSENAL SUB: A third and final change for the Gunners as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns from injury to replace Wilshere.
This match is petering out a little, it must be said. West Brom have done well to improve after that disastrous first half and are on course to win the second half, but there was simply too much damage done in the opening 45 minutes.
OFF THE POST! Almost another stunning strike from Arsenal as Ozil works the ball across to Ramsey, who takes the ball into the box before fizzing a powerful effort towards the far corner that clatters off the upright with Myhill well and truly beaten.
OFF THE POST! Ramsey is denied by the woodwork for a second time in quick succession. The Welsh midfielder does really well to dig a deft shot away towards the far corner, but Myhill matches the effort with a sensational save, flicking the ball onto the woodwork.
CHANCE! Ramsey could have had a hat-trick here! He again gets in behind the defence down the left, but drags his shot wide of the far post. Moments later Gardner brings a routine save out of Ospina at the other end.
CLOSE! Almost a second for West Brom as Gardner finds himself in down the right channel and, with no support attempts a clever chip over Ospina. It is not a bad try either, but the ball drops just short of goal and Arsenal eventually clear the danger.
SAVE! Ospina is called into action again as Baird lets fly with a low drive that finds its way through a crowd of bodies. Ospina sees it a little late and so needs two attempts to hold it, but he collects the ball before any poachers can snap up the rebound.
Both sides have chances to threaten at either end, but first Oxlade-Chamberlain reads Anichebe's pass to cut it out before giving the ball away himself in a good position.
There will be three minutes of added time at the end of this match.
OFF THE BAR! Almost another howler from Ospina as Garder hits a piledriver from range that is swerving all over the place. It goes right through the hands of Ospina, who is relieved to see his touch deflect the ball onto the crossbar.
CHANCE! Another late chance for the Baggies as the ball is drilled towards Lescott at the back post, but he plants his header wide of the target.
FULL TIME: Arsenal 4-1 West Bromwich Albion
The Premier League season comes to an end at the Emirates Stadium, then, and it is a positive finale from Arsenal as they thrash West Brom 4-1 to finish third in the table. The Gunners were four up by half time, with Walcott netting a hat-trick and Wilshere weighing in with a stunner of his own, while McAuley pulled a consolation back in the second half for the Baggies.
Right, that is all we have time for this afternoon! Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for today's clash between Arsenal and Hull, and for the entire Premier League season as a whole. Stick around for our match report, as well as reaction, analysis and player ratings. From me, though, it is goodbye for now!
