A Theo Walcott hat-trick and Jack Wilshere stunner gave the Gunners a four-goal advantage at half time, before Gareth McAuley pulled a consolation back for the visitors.

ARSENAL

Goal

David Ospina: Nothing to do in the first half but was at fault for the West Brom goal, coming off his line and getting nowhere near the cross as McAuley nodded home. Also very fortunate to avoid another howler late on when his botched save deflected the ball onto the woodwork. (5/10)

Defence

Hector Bellerin: Rarely tested defensively but did not have a huge say at the other end of the pitch either, with those in front of him doing enough damage. (6/10)

Gabriel Paulista: Picks up an assist for the Wilshere goal, although that was all about the finish. A sturdy defensive showing as the Gunners comfortably dealt with the majority of West Brom's attacks. (7/10)

Per Mertesacker: A good presence at the back and had one chance in the opposition box when he got in front of his man but could not beat the keeper. (7/10)

Kieran Gibbs: Seemed to pick up a shoulder injury when colliding with Anichebe in the second half, but battled on until the end. (6/10)

Midfield

Francis Coquelin: Has emerged as one of Arsenal's most important players this season and was again on form to allow those in front of him to sparkle. (7/10)

Santi Cazorla: His mis-hit shot was tucked home at the back post by Walcott for the hat-trick, and that was about the only time Cazorla did not seem to be in control of things. Ran the game from his deep-lying playmaker role. (8/10)

Jack Wilshere: At his very best in the first half, making clever darting runs into the box and linking up with those around him to great effect. Scored one of the goals of the season and could have had a couple more too. (9/10)

Mesut Ozil: Heavily involved in Arsenal's slick passing in and around the West Brom box. Pulled the strings from behind the striker as the hosts cut through the Baggies at will. (8/10)

Alexis Sanchez: For once not the star of the show. Put in a very good shift and played an important role in many of his side's moves, but was outshone by others around him today. (7/10)

Attack

Theo Walcott: Hat-trick hero and man of the match. Magnificent display from the attacker having been handed a rare start. His first goal was a corker, and the other two were impressive in their own ways as well. Surely played himself into the FA Cup final starting XI. (9/10)

Substitutes

Aaron Ramsey: Hit the woodwork twice in as many minutes during his time on the field. Seamlessly fitted in to Arsenal's free-flowing midfield. (7/10)

Olivier Giroud: Replaced Walcott but could not replicate the hat-trick hero, failing to have a sight of goal during his brief cameo. (6/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Made his return from injury with 13 minutes at the end but did not have a noticeable impact on the match. (6/10)

WEST BROM

Goal

Boaz Myhill: Beaten four times, but could do very little about any of them. Prevented the scoreline from getting even worse with a string of impressive saves, including one particularly good one to deny Ramsey. (6/10)

Defence

Craig Dawson: Made a couple of good blocks and kept Sanchez relatively quiet in comparison to the other Arsenal midfielders, but a difficult 90 minutes nonetheless. (5/10)

Gareth McAuley: Got his name on the scoresheet with a towering header above Ospina, but really struggled at the other end of the field as Arsenal bamboozled him with their quick give-and-go passing. (5/10)

Jonas Olsson: Could not cope with the pace of Walcott or the movement of those behind him. Failed to clear the ball in the build-up to the second goal and was eventually taken off early in the second half. (4/10)

Joleon Lescott: Given a torrid time by Walcott and Wilshere in the first half. Improved when moved into the middle in the second half, but by then the damage had already been done. (4/10)

Midfield

Callum McManaman: Barely involved at all in an attacking sense, being pinned back by Wilshere, Walcott and Bellerin. Taken off less than 10 minutes after the break. (5/10)

Darren Fletcher: Could do nothing to prevent Arsenal from cutting through the midfield freely in the first half. Was able to put up more of a fight in the second, but it was too little too late. (5/10)

Claudio Yacob: Usually such an important member of the side but could get nowhere near Arsenal today. The hosts' movement and quick passing were too much for him. (5/10)

James Morrison: Also failed to make much of an impact in the final third or defensively when the Gunners were on top. Managed to compete more in the midfield battle after the break, though. (5/10)

Chris Brunt: Provided the delivery for McAuley's goal and gave the team better balance when he switched to left-back in the second half. Like his teammates, though, he was comfortably second best for long spells. (5/10)

Attack

Saido Berahino: If this is his last game for the club, he did not do himself justice. Never able to get involved in proceedings, ploughing a lone furrow up top on his own. (5/10)

Substitutes

Victor Anichebe: Introduced early in the second half and gave West Brom more presence up front without ever really threatening to find a way through. (6/10)

Craig Gardner: Had one powerful effort from range that Ospina flapped onto the woodwork, and volleyed another one over. Gave West Brom more of a threat in the final third. (6/10)

Chris Baird: Completed the subs on the hour mark by replacing Yacob and helped the Baggies to an improved second-half display. (6/10)
