Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League showdown with Manchester City.

Arsenal will somehow aim to record their first Premier League victory of the season at the third attempt when they make the journey to the Etihad to face champions Manchester City on Saturday.

The Gunners have suffered back-to-back defeats to Brentford and Chelsea during a woeful start to the 2021-22 season - results which have supposedly left Mikel Arteta's Arsenal future in jeopardy.

However, Arsenal warmed up for this game with a comprehensive 6-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Cup, and their medical room is slowly starting to empty at the right time.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Bukayo Saka

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: August 28 (vs. Man City)

Bukayo Saka shone at The Hawthorns but took a blow to the knee during the encounter, and Arteta has confirmed that the Gunners will need to assess the youngster before the trip to the Etihad.

Thomas Partey

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Norwich City)

Thomas Partey remains sidelined with the ankle injury he sustained against Chelsea in pre-season and is not expected to return to training before the end of the month.

Eddie Nketiah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Norwich City)

Eddie Nketiah - who could still be on the move before the transfer window closes - also suffered an ankle injury during the Mind Series clash with the Blues, and Arsenal do not expect him to be back out on the pitch before September.

Gabriel Magalhaes

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: August 28 (vs. Man City)

Gabriel Magalhaes was forced to withdraw from Brazil's gold-medal winning Olympic team after suffering a knee injury. The centre-back is ahead of schedule regarding his recovery and is now back in training, but it would be a surprise to see him line up at the Etihad.

Willian

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: August 28 (vs. Man City)

Willian was one of several players to test positive for coronavirus earlier this month and was not involved against West Brom, but he is expected to complete a free transfer to Corinthians anyway.

Ben White

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: August 28 (vs. Man City)

Ben White also returned a positive COVID-19 test before the visit of Chelsea, and while he has not been ruled out of this encounter yet, Arteta was pessimistic over his chances of featuring last week.

Hector Bellerin

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: August 28 (vs. Man City)

Hector Bellerin has returned to training after a minor thigh issue but was nowhere to be seen against West Brom. The Spaniard is thought to have a strong chance of returning here, but he could also secure an exit from the club within the next few days.
