Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'We believe we can progress'

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists that Arsenal have the belief to knock Bayern Munich out of the Champions League.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has insisted that the Arsenal dressing room believe they can still qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Gunners have a mountain to climb after losing 2-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain believes that Arsenal can take confidence from the victory over the same opposition at the Allianz Arena in last season's competition, when Arsene Wenger's side were knocked out on away goals.

"This time last year we lost 3-1 here and we went there and won 2-0 so we can take confidence from that," the midfielder told UEFA.com.

"It is never over in this game. We will go there with belief that we can do it.

"The fight and character we showed will be crucial for the rest of the season and definitely when we go and play at their place."

The second leg takes place on March 11.
