Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits Arsenal complacency

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain concedes that complacency was a leading factor after the Gunners threw away a 3-0 lead over Anderlecht on Tuesday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted that complacency played a leading role in Arsenal surrendering a three-goal lead at home to Anderlecht last night.

The England winger made it 3-0 on 58 minutes as the Gunners looked well on their way to the last 16 of the Champions League.

However, Anthony Vanden Borre struck twice, before Aleksandar Mitrovic headed an injury-time equaliser to stun Wenger's side, who were booed off the field at the Emirates Stadium.

"It's hard to say [why we lost the lead], but obviously a little bit of complacency crept in because we didn't finish the game strong at all," he told UEFA.com.

"At 3-0 a team of our quality should be able to see that out and dominate the remaining 20–30 minutes. We failed to do that and we were punished."

Arsenal are still widely expected to reach the second round as the North Londoners sit second in Group D, five points clear of Anderlecht with two games remaining.
