Arsenal confirm that defender Leah Williamson is facing some time on the sidelines with a "significant" hamstring injury.

Arsenal Women have announced that Leah Williamson will spend some time on the sidelines with a "significant" hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old started and completed the full 90 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur Ladies but experienced "discomfort" following the stalemate.

The Gunners have now confirmed that Williamson's hamstring issue is severe, but no timeframe has been placed on the Lionesses captain's recovery.

A medical update on arsenal.com read: "Following Saturday's match against Tottenham Hotspur, Leah Williamson experienced discomfort in her hamstring.

"Subsequent assessments and scans have confirmed that Leah has suffered a significant hamstring injury. Further consultations and assessments will take place, with Leah's recovery and rehabilitation programme also being determined in the coming days.

"Everyone at the club will now be supporting and working hard with Leah to get her back on the pitch as soon as possible."

Williamson has two goals to her name from 10 appearances in all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign and has played the full 90 minutes in five of Arsenal's seven Women's Super League games so far this term.
