A Samit Patel century was not enough to stop England's tour match with India 'A' petering out to a draw.

England have begun their tour of India with a draw in Mumbai against India 'A'.

The draw looked likely after England closed day two on 286-4 and after both teams appeared more content for playing time over winning the game, the match petered out into a draw.

England were finally dismissed for 426 in the afternoon session, with Samit Patel being caught out for 104 after finishing the second day unbeaten on 82.

Matt Prior and Tim Bresnan also got some time in the middle ahead of the first Test with India in two weeks' time after hitting solid knocks of 51 and 33 respectively.

Jimmy Anderson struck at the start of the India 'A' second innings but the hosts were content to bat out the remainder of the day, with Ajinkya Rahane hitting 54 off 98 balls as India closed the match on 124-4.
