Isaiah Pead has said that the running backs on the St Louis Rams' roster are all competing for a place in the team's starting lineup.
The NFC West side lost their 2012 rushing-yards leader Steven Jackson to the Atlanta Falcons after he voided the final year of his contract.
The 23-year-old told the St Louis Post-Dispatch: "Last year obviously didn't go the way I wanted, but I survived it and I'm ready to move forward.
"We're all competitors and we're all looking to be number one, but it's not like we're enemies.
"We're truly a unit, trying to do everything we can to make sure that we're all getting better, as individuals and as a group."
Pead had just 10 carries in his rookie season with the Rams, recording just 54 rushing yards.
