Jake Long "feeling great" following triceps surgery

St Louis Rams offensive tackle Jake Long says that he is ready to put his fitness problems behind him following surgery to repair a triceps tear.

Jake Long has said that he feels the best he has felt in years following surgery to repair a triceps tear.

The offensive tackle, who recently joined the St Louis Rams, underwent the operation after missing the end of the 2012 season with the injury.

Speaking at a press conference, Long told reporters: "I'm feeling great, I'm about four months out of surgery, feeling strong. Working real hard. Just ready to get back on the field and get all this rehab stuff behind me.

"It was definitely frustrating. The last couple years I had to battle through some injuries. It definitely wasn't ideal. But I think I battled through them well.

"Now, honestly, this is the best I've felt in years, maybe ever. I'm just excited to get back to my old self."

The 27-year-old joined the Rams following a five-year stint with the Miami Dolphins.
