Mike McCoy: 'San Diego Chargers didn't play well enough to win'

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy admits that his team was not good enough to win their final game of the regular season and clinch a playoff place.

Mike McCoy has admitted that the San Diego Chargers did not play well enough to clinch a playoff spot in their final game of the regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The AFC West side controlled their own fate going into today's games, knowing that a win would give them a wildcard place, but they were beaten 19-7 by their divisional rivals.

After the game, the head coach told reporters: "We dug ourselves in a big hole against a good team. As a whole team, we didn't play well enough to win."

The defeat leaves the Chargers third in the division with a 9-7 record in 2014.
