Jon Beason: New York Giants trade is "amazing"

Linebacker Jon Beason says that he is pleased to be joining the New York Giants in a trade from the Carolina Panthers.

Jon Beason has described his trade move to the New York Giants as "amazing".

The linebacker joins the NFC East side side from the Carolina Panthers, who beat the Giants 38-0 in their last game.

The 28-year-old told the Giants' official website: "It's amazing. It doesn't happen [often] with mid-season trades. But the one place I said if I wasn't in Carolina where I wanted to be was with a great organisation like the Giants with a winning tradition, leadership, a 4-3 scheme where I can come in right now.

"I think I can really come out and impact the season. I know I'll come in tomorrow early and meet the coaches and I'll get my linebacker coach [Jim Herrmann] and we're going to cram.

"When I wasn't playing that much lately I said I know I have value. I know somewhere else could use me and they made it happen."

Beason has made 11 tackles so far this season.
