Venezuela's record goalscorer Salomon Rondon can make some Copa America history for his country when they face Canada in the quarter-finals on Friday.

On matchday three, the Pachuca striker netted his sixth all-time goal at this tournament, equalling the Venezuelan record set by Jose Luis Dolgetta.

Rondon can surpass that mark with a goal against Canada, and if he plays on Friday, he will become the most capped player at the Copa America for La Vinotinto, eclipsing Juan Arango's mark of 20.

Darwin Machis received two cautions in the group phase and will be suspended for this match, leaving the door open for Yeferson Soteldo to reclaim his place in the starting 11.

Rafael Romo has been among the many key contributors to their success in the opening phase, posting consecutive clean sheets and stopping a penalty on matchday two against Mexico.

Manager Fernando Batista sat out Nahuel Ferraresi and Miguel Navarro against Jamaica because they were both on yellow cards, while they should each return to the starting 11 this week.

Eduard Bello is even with Rondon for the team lead in goals at this year's tournament (two), as both players, along with Eric Ramirez, scored in their 3-0 victory over Jamaica, the second international goal for the Atletico National striker.

Matias Lacava is the only Venezuelan selected for this tournament who has yet to make an appearance for the national team.

Cristian Casseres could be back in the starting 11, as his ability to create turnovers could come in handy against a dangerous Canadian side in transition.
