Shaun Wane hails Iain Thornley display

Coach Shaun Wane describes Iain Thornley's performance during last night's 34-20 win over Hull Kingston Rovers as the centre's best yet for Wigan Warriors.

Coach Shaun Wane has described Iain Thornley's performance during last night's 34-20 win over Hull Kingston Rovers as the centre's best yet for Wigan Warriors.

The 22-year-old scored his first career hat-trick in the victory at the DW Stadium, touching down twice in the first half before adding a third try on 77 minutes.

"I thought it was the best game he's had," Wane told reporters. "He carried the ball strong and defended well.

"He's got a lot of potential and I think we've seen it. He needs to string 10 or 12 games together like that."

Thornley rejoined Wigan from rugby union outfit Sale Sharks in May 2012.
