Craig Sandercock hails under-strength Hull KR

Hull KR boss Craig Sandercock pays tribute to his squad for thumping Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday without a number of key players.

Hull Kingston Rovers boss Craig Sandercock has paid tribute to his squad for thumping Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday without a number of key players.

Hull coasted to a 44-6 win at Craven Park despite missing the likes of Dave Hodgson, Craig Hall, Sean Gleeson, Jonny Walker, Jamie Langley and Justin Poore.

Sandercock's charges conceded eight penalties throughout the course of the contest, but the coach says that he cannot be too disappointed with the penalty count in contrast to the scoreline.

He told Sky Sports: "Today was another small step in the right direction," he said. "It's pleasing because we were missing so many key players and we were caned 8-3 in the penalty count.

"I don't want to complain too much about that. I'll sit down and have a look at why we were penalised so much. When you lose the penalty count by so much, usually it's a closer scoreline."

Kingston Rovers moved up to 10th in the Super League standings following their second win of the season.
