Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has joked that he is 'heartbroken' to have cut off his long hair after catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror.
The 31-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, has been donning the hairdo this season, but has decided to go for a different look.
The midfielder, who was the subject of some jokes about his hair once he began wearing headbands during matches, paid a tongue-in-cheek tribute to his locks on Twitter.
Barton wrote: "After viewing both videos and glimpsing myself in the mirror at home, it is with great reluctance me and my 392 day old hair have decided to part company. It breaks my heart to do it but it just wasn't working out. Goodbye my friend x
