Several Oxford University students reportedly gave Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton the thumbs-up following his speech.

The 31-year-old discussed his career, social media and philosophy during an hour-long talk at the Oxford Union debating society on Wednesday.

According to the Daily Star, Max Brown tweeted after the speech: "Really excellent, never heard of him before the talk, somewhat inspirational."

Barton, who is known to air his views on Twitter, took to the social networking website to express his enjoyment at being involved in the event.
