Kevin Magnussen expects Jenson Button McLaren stay

Kevin Magnussen suggests that Jenson Button will remain at McLaren in 2016.

Kevin Magnussen has hinted that Jenson Button could stay at McLaren next season alongside Fernando Alonso.

The Dane was demoted last winter to make way for the Spaniard, who left Ferrari after five years to re-join the Woking-based outfit.

However, Magnussen is adamant that he needs to be racing next season, whether it is with McLaren or not.

He told reporters: "I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen at McLaren. It looks like they're going to stay with the driver lineup as it is; if not, then obviously I'd be happy to take the vacancy.

"I'm not prepared to sit around another year. I've decided I need to race next year and if I can't do that in Formula 1 then I will try and do it somewhere else."

McLaren are currently ninth in the constructors' championship.
