Wolverhampton Wanderers 'to trigger Benik Afobe buyout clause'

Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe will swap Bournemouth for former club Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £12.5m deal, according to a report.

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly intend to take up the option of signing Benik Afobe on a permanent basis from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Molineux, scoring an unrivalled six goals in 15 outings from February onwards.

Afobe is understood to have a £12.5m release clause inserted in his Bournemouth contract, which expires later this week.

According to Sky Sports News, Wolves have decided to trigger that clause ahead of their return to the top flight of English football.

The Arsenal academy graduate scored 23 goals in 48 games for Wolves during his previous spell at the club, prior to joining Bournemouth in a £10m move two-and-a-half years ago.
