Tottenham Hotspur 'to make Pochettino move this week'

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly make an approach for Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino as early as this week.

Tottenham Hotspur will make an official approach to Southampton for manager Mauricio Pochettino this week, according to reports.

Spurs sacked Tim Sherwood earlier this week, after the Lilywhites finished sixth in the Premier League and The People claims that the North London club have now earmarked the Argentine coach as the number one choice to take the reins at White Hart Lane.

Technical director Franco Baldini is said to be leading the search for a successor to Sherwood and is thought to have gradually brought chairman Daniel Levy around to the idea of appointing Pochettino.

The Saints, who have seen two of their brightest stars – Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw – linked with moves away from the club, are believed to have failed in their efforts to convince Pochettino that they can match his ambitions for the South Coast club.
