Premier League duo Southampton and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Real Salt Lake captain Albert Rusnak.
The former Manchester City academy graduate excelled for the MLS outfit this year, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists from midfield in 35 league appearances.
However, Rusnak will see his contract expire on December 31 and is currently free to find a new club in the New Year.
According to the Daily Mail, both Southampton and Newcastle are looking to bolster their squads in January and the potential acquisition of Rusnak on a free transfer appeals to both clubs.
The Slovakia international, who had brief loan spells with Oldham Athletic and Birmingham City earlier in his career, is believed to be open to a return to England and is keen to test himself in the Premier League.
Rusnak has enjoyed the best spell of his career for Real Salt Lake since joining the club in 2017, scoring 42 goals and registering 29 assists in 146 appearances.
