Southampton striker Rickie Lambert praises the addition of English striker Jay Rodriguez to the club.

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has praised English striker Jay Rodriguez after the attacker completed a move to the club.

Rodriguez, 22, joined the Saints on a four-year deal from Burnley this summer, and Lambert believes that the signing will benefit the Premier League newcomers.

"When I played against him last year, I felt he was a very good player. His team didn't do so well down here when we played them, but I still think he had a good game, and he had a very good game up at their place against us, so I think he's a good signing for us," Lambert told Southampton's official website.

"He's a good, young English talent and I'm very much looking forward to playing alongside him."

Southampton finished second in the Championship last season.
