Michel Bastos backs his Schalke teammates to improve their league position.

On-loan Schalke winger Michel Bastos has insisted that his current club have the talent to move up the Bundesliga table from their current position of ninth.

Bastos, who scored both Schalke goals in the weekend draw at Mainz 05, says that he has seen enough at the club to see that they can solve their "current problems".

"I'm glad I scored two goals and we got a point," Schalke's official website quotes Bastos as saying. "That was important.

"Even before I made the switch from Lyon I knew about the quality of this Schalke side. The team have the ability to solve the current problems."

Bastos has three goals in three appearances for his new side.
