Sampdoria keen on signing former Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov?

Serie A side Sampdoria are reportedly keen on signing Dimitar Berbatov, who is a free agent after leaving Monaco at the end of last season.

Sampdoria are reportedly interested in signing former Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The 34-year-old is currently a free agent, having left the French club at the end of last season following an 18-month spell in Ligue 1.

Sampdoria are looking for a striker having lost Samuel Eto'o and Stefano Okaka to Antalyaspor and Anderlecht respectively.

Last month the Blucerchiati completed the signing of forward Antonio Cassano and according to Gazetta World, the club were recently linked with a move for Mario Balotelli.

However, it appears the Italian international is not keen on a return to Italy.

Berbatov scored 18 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions for Monaco.
