Rochdale keep their League Two playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win at home to Southend United.

Rochdale have kept their League Two playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win at home to Southend United.

Michael Rose gave the hosts a first-half lead when he swept home a free kick into the bottom corner on 34 minutes.

Mark Phillips levelled for the visitors a minute after the restart, but Rochdale got themselves in front five minutes later as Bobby Grant headed in.

Grant made it 3-1 on 74 minutes with a fine individual effort, curling the ball into the top corner after cutting in from the right side.

Ashley Grimes fired in soon after to extend Rochdale's advantage, while Barry Corr grabbed a late consolation for the visitors with his header.
